Born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec are studying at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris and at the National School of Arts in Cergy-Pontoise. In 1999, the two brothers team up to found a Design Studio in Paris.
The motives of nature play a primordial role since the first developments that we know; Natural shapes and structures are also a recurring theme in the work of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. L'Oiseau, a figure of archaic simplicity, recalls the clarity of the objects of Nordic folk art. Its sleek shape adds an attractive note to modern amenities, without being cutesy or kitsch like many other animal figures.
