In 2007, during research conducted by designer François Azambourg at the Meisenthal International Glass Art Center, Douglas was born. A vase with walls bearing forever the imprints of its wooden matrix, sinuous veins, tormented knots, tiny crevices.
On the occasion of the 10th spring of Douglas, François Azambourg and the glassmakers of Meisenthal wanted to make it a party and invite it to crazy variations. From this work were born more than 150 unique pieces and sets, signed by François Azambourg, exposed & put on sale at the occasion of the D'Days in the "room 1900" of the Museum of Decorative Arts, from May 3 to 14, 2017.
The vase is shaped in a Douglas fir mold. Molten glass's heat burns the wooden mold, which then imprints its pattern into the glass.
