Description
Catalog of the exhibition " Histoires de photographies ", presented at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, in Paris, from May 19 to December 12, 2021.
This book presents for the first time to the general public as well as to specialists the singularity of the photographic collection of the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris. Considered as minor arts in the 19th century, the decorative arts and photography have sought to unite their know-how. Their educational, artistic, political or economic ambitions have nourished a relationship in which the Musée des Arts Décoratifs has played a fundamental role. Over the decades, a collection of more than 350,000 photographs in various techniques and media has been built up. Spanning the years from 1850 to 2000, the collection features a variety of genres: landscape, portraiture, reproductions of objects or architecture, fashion or advertising images. The book reveals important photographic collections of little-known authors such as Henri Bodin, Jean Collas or Paul Henrot, while inviting us to rediscover the works of Eugène Atget, Henri Le Secq, Willy Ronis, Horst P. Horst or Laure Albin Guillot.
